IT managers know that not all data is created equal – some is used every day, all day, and some data is just referenced a couple times a year. Then there is critical data – the kind that is accessed continually and is key to the productivity of the whole organization. For this critical data, a special storage tier is needed using SSD’s that can alleviate constraints and allow applications to operate at maximum speed.
Speeding up Shared Access File Systems
The AssuredSAN™ tiered storage solutions are designed to address applications where certain data is accessed at a very high rate by many users or servers simultaneously. This can happen in applications such as shared disk file systems, such as StorNext from Quantum, or even virtual desktop environments.
Featuring a combination of powerful Dot Hill AssuredSAN storage configured with both solid state (SSD) and conventional hard disk drives, these tiered storage solutions are designed to support clients with shared disk file systems, which use a separate metadata controller to support simultaneous, shared access between Linux, Macintosh, Unix or Windows clients.
A Powerful SSD Tier combined with 8Gb Fibre Channel and Optimized Firmware
Based on the powerful Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3003 storage system, the solutions feature exceptional processor power, 8Gb Fibre Channel bandwidth, and superior read/write performance, with firmware designed and optimized for sequential workloads. This combination of features creates a platform to support exceptional throughput for many demanding applications.
