E-mail has become a business critical communications tool for many organizations today; develop a secure Microsoft Exchange disaster recovery policy using the Dot Hill VSS provider combined with data snapshots using AssuredSnap™.
Building a Disaster Recovery Plan with VSS and AssuredSnap™
The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service provides the backup infrastructure for the Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Server operating systems. In addition to providing the mechanism for creating consistent point-in-time copies of data known as shadow copies or snapshots, the Volume Shadow Copy Service coordinates with business applications, file-system services, backup applications, fast-recovery solutions, and storage hardware to ensure that consistent application-aware shadow copies are created.
Dot Hill has developed a hardware provider for VSS which is a component that acts as an interface between the point-in-point snapshot capabilities of the Dot Hill R/Evolution® series of RAID storage arrays and any VSS enabled application that can request a shadow copy to be initiated.
