Systems Engineer – LTC
The System Engineer is responsible for supporting the Sales TEAM with design and ongoing operational support of infrastructure technologies for Dot Hill Systems (DHS) storage subsystems.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Defining and implementing storage subsystem configurations, performing needs assessments, and Professional Services assignments.
- Work on assigned named accounts and work specifically with a DHS Sales Representative and provide recommendations of DHS solutions to potential clients alongside the Sales TEAM.
- Responsibilities also include, but not limited to, POST Sales support events, initial and on-going Sales meetings with DHS Sales Reps to position DHS products with new prospect environments as well as maintaining evaluation equipment on-site.
- The System Engineer will work closely with Sales, Engineering and Marketing to develop a rapport with potential customers and aide in the sale of DHS product lines.
- Provide customer support. This includes but is not limited to:
- Establishing professional relationships with customer base.
- Supporting customer installation and integration efforts.
- Answering product-related questions.
- Training customers on use of products.
- Responding to customers within committed time frame.
- Resolving common customer reported problems on equipment qualified on.
- Traveling to customer site when necessary to provide technical support.
- Using good judgment when determining whether a product needs to be returned.
- Following through and delivering on commitments made to customers.
- Act in a Technical Support capacity when not on site.
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of Dot Hill Systems Corporation products and their applications. This includes but is not limited to:
- Participating in Product Marketing training activities.
- Working with Engineering, and Manufacturing to acquire and share intimate knowledge of products.
- Attending appropriate seminars and conferences.
- Keep abreast of current developments in relevant technologies.
- Participate in product support activities as assigned, working with other departments and management. This includes but is not limited to:
- Interfacing with other departments as new products are defined and developed.
- Ensuring support input on serviceability and reliability considerations.
- Working with technical documentation to provide support input for all required manuals.
- Assisting in developing specifically assigned support plan items, as required.
- Participate in design reviews for new products and product updates.

- Ability to perform basic programming.
- Working knowledge of computer hardware and software systems.
- Basic understanding of Unix or other operating systems.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to train customers, contractors and Dot Hill personnel on use of Dot Hill Systems Corporation systems.
- Ability to perform system administration functions in a mixed network environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five plus years of troubleshooting and customer support experience in a technology environment.
