Software Test Engineer – Storage Controller
Dot Hill Systems, a leader in scalable and highly available storage networking solutions, has an immediate opening for an individual with a passion for software testing, who can demonstrate superior detailed manual and automation skills testing RAID storage devices. Your responsibilities will include working in a team environment to design and implement various automation tools to test RAID storage functions. This job will also require strong communication skills, knowledge of quality assurance practices and software development practices.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing various automated test software features
- Assisting in resolving automated test suite bugs and determining the difference between a test tool bug and a RAID controller bug.
- Contributing in design and code reviews for automated test suites
- Installing and configuring Linux/Windows automation test environments
- Working with developers to reproduce problems, and verify fixes
- Support development engineering’s use of test automation tools and equipment the tool runs on.
- Write up and track defects associated with the automated test suite
- Working effectively within a multidisciplinary design team, author/maintain complete and thorough software design documentation.
Qualifications
- 0-3 years of software test and scripting development experience
- C/C++ programming languages
- Perl, PHP, Python programming languages
- Familiarity with Storage Technology such as Fibre Channel and/or SAS
- Knowledge of Networking protocols
- Knowledge of PC architecture
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies: Vmware, Xen, Hyper-V
- Unix, Linux and Windows Operating Systems knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter, ability to self-manage project deliverables and timeline
- Experience working in a team environment
- Authoring and maintaining software architecture, design and other documentation
Desired Experience
- Familiarity with SAS/FC/iSCSI host interfaces.
- Object Oriented Analysis and Design
- Source Code Control
Education
- BS/MS Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
