QA Data Analyst - Longmont
Summary
To provide statistical support services to the Corporate Quality and Reliability Assurance organization and other information stake holders within Dot Hill. The Quality Data Analyst will collect, analyze, maintain, and improve critical data streams from suppliers, contract manufacturers, service and support databases, customers, failure analysis and corrective action databases. The Quality Data Analyst will examine the raw data and determine the most appropriate methodology to analyze and illustrate the meaning and importance of the information. The Quality Data Analyst will generate periodic summary reports, charts, and graphs to show pertinent history, status and forecast of Key Performance Indicators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and generate reports against various databases to extract appropriate data required for monitoring and analysis.
- An understanding of production and field data collection processes required.
- An understanding of the use of production and field data to monitor product and process quality. (Control, Pareto and Yield Charts, AFR/MTBF Calculations)
- Clear and concise instructions to MIS department for report development.
- Use statistical techniques and models to determine trends and highlight issues.
- Create and maintain specific analytical reports for internal and external distribution.
- System Dead-on-Arrival (DOA) Rate
- Initial Field Incident Rate (IFIR first 90 days)
- Hardware FRU: Monthly Return Rate (MRR)/ Annualized Return Rate (ARR)
- No Trouble Found (NTF) Rate
- Hardware FRU: Monthly Failure Rate (MFR)/ Annualized Failure Rate (AFR)
- Corrective Action Reports (number and duration)
- Cost Of Poor Quality (COPQ) as % of Sales
- Develop and maintain a data management system.
- Assist in designated quality improvement activities as required.
- Keep up to date on product features and characteristics of products, processes and services as they relate to Continuous Quality Improvement and Total Customer Satisfaction in all areas of the company operations.
- Develop and maintain the Quality & Reliability Assurance Dashboard
- Create graphic representations of data utilizing the most appropriate software tools and techniques.

- Proven record of working with multiple databases, process and reporting methods.
- Must be very knowledgeable of statistical analysis and modeling techniques
- Must be able to produce multilevel reports.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics from a four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a data analyst or quality engineer.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply concepts of advanced statistics and probability.
- Must have the ability to comprehend and analyze quantitative measures of product and process quality/reliability.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- ASQ Quality or Reliability Certification is a plus.
